Senior Project Manager
Sarah has been a Lighting Designer at Renfro Design Group since joining the firm in 2003. Sarah graduated from the Georgia Institute of Technology in 2001, where she earned a BS in Architecture. She also studied for a year at the Ecole d‘Architecture, La Villette in Paris, France.
While at Renfro Design Group, Sarah is actively managing the design of East Market Streetscape Improvement in Louisville, KY; Clark Manton Building in Williamstown, MA, Sugar Hill Museum in New York, NY, Private Arts Building in Brooklyn, NY, Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art Bloch Galleries in Kansas City, MO and various high-end residential projects in the Hamptons, NY.
Sarah has also applied her lighting design skills to several recently completed projects including The Frick Art & Historical Center in Pittsburgh, PA; National Academy of Design in New York, NY; David Zwirner 20th Street in New York, NY; Irelands’ Great Hunger Museum at Quinnipiac University in Hamden, CT; Mitchell and Hilarie Morgan Hall at Temple University in Phildalephia, PA; Steven L. Anderson Design Center at The University of Arkansas in Fayetteville, AR and numerous residential projects with Deborah Berke Partners Architects, Rogers Partners, Marvel Architects, UNStudio, and Franke, Gottsegen, Cox Architects.
In June 2015, the Frick Art & Historical Center was awarded an Illumination Award of Merit from the IES. In 2014, Sarah’s work on the the Steven L. Anderson Design Center and Vol Walker Hall Renovation received a Lumen Award of Excellence from the IES New York City Section. Sarah also received an Illumination Award of Merit from the IES for her work on this project as well as David Zwirner 20th Street and Ireland’s Great Hunger Museum. In 2007, Sarah received an IES Lumen Award of Merit from the New York City Section for her work on 21C Hotel Museum in Louisville, KY. In 2011, her work on the Art Collector’s loft received four awards which included a Lumen Award of Excellence from the IES New York City Section, an Award of Merit from the IES of North America, an Award of Merit from the International Association of Lighting Designers and Outstanding Achievement from Architectural Lighting Magazine.
Before joining Renfro Design Group, Sarah had a successful year with the Newcomb & Boyd Lighting Design Group in Atlanta, GA. She was involved in projects both large and small, from the 4.8 million square
feet of Atlanta’s Hartsfield Airport to an intimate performing arts center in Gainesville, GA.
Sarah is member of the IES, United States Green Building Council and the Designers Lighting Forum of New York and the Illuminating Engineering Society.
